Billie Eilish Talks About That Viral Tank Top Pic And Her ‘Horrible’ Body Relationship

She’s glad that she was where she was when it happened.

A lot of women deal with body-shaming and insecurity issues, celebrities including. Billie Eilish is open about it, once revealing that she once hated her own body. Last October, a paparazzi shot of Billie Eilish out for a quick errand went viral because it was so unusual to see her in only tank top out.

The picture stirred out hate comments from people who wouldn’t stop shaming her body. While many fans defended her, it seems that the topic bothered her more than she let on when she avoided the question when she went live on Instagram.

Earlier last year, Billie released a short film where she addresses the bodyshaming comments she received over the years.

“Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it,” Billie spoke in a voiceover. The short film was played during her ‘Where do we go?’ tour. “Some people use it to shame others. Some people use it to shame me,” she continued.

“But I feel you watching, always, and nothing I do goes unseen.”

“Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? Am I my stomach? My hips? The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?”

“If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman,” she continued. “If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it.”

Billie did not answer the questions during an Instagram Q&A session.

When the fan asked about her paparazzi shot, Billie simply answered that she ‘had no idea’ what they were talking about. However, she seemed ready when Vanity Fair interviewed her again about it.

Billie made it to Vanity Fair’s March cover where she addresses the comments on her paparazzi shots.

Billie thinks that the people around her were more concerned about the incident because of their knowledge of her past relationship with her body. During her worst, she would resort to self-harm to deal with her hatred for her own body.

But she now feels fine with where she’s at now.

Billie admitted, “If that had happened three years ago, when I was in the midst of my horrible body relationship — or dancing a ton, five years ago. I wasn’t really eating. I was, like, starving myself.”

“I remember taking a pill that told me that it would make me lose weight and it only made me pee the bed — when I was 12. It’s just crazy.”

“I thought that I would be the only one dealing with my hatred for my body, but I guess the internet also hates my body.”

“So, that’s great,” she added.

In an interview on October 18, 2020, Billie talked about the picture of her running to her brother’s car in a tank top. People said that she’s got fat, but Billie replied, “Nope, this I show I look. You’ve just never seen it before.”
