’16 And Pregnant’ Star Jordan Cashmyer Is Found Dead At Age 26
She had a history of depression and had previously attempted suicide.
In 2014, Jordan Cashmyer was featured on the MTV Reality series long with her now ex-BF Derek Taylor and their daughter Genevieve Evie Shae Taylor. At the time, her life was reportedly troubled to the extent she admitted herself into a rehab facility in June 2016 at age 21, having injured herself in a drunken stupor.

A source for TMZ had claimed the incident, which left her with a concussion and black-eye, made the reality star realize it was time to get her life together. Sadly, Jordan passed away over the weekend at age 26. And her death came just months after the passing of her fiancé Michael Frank Schaffer, 30, with whom she shared a 6month old daughter.

Jordan’s life had really been troubled to the extent she even admitted herself into rehab in June 2016 at age 21.
Dennis M. Cashmyer shared the news in an emotional post on Facebook, alongside a black and white of Jordan. The caption read: “Last night I received a call no parent ever wants. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child EVER.” Jordan’s attempt to get her life back on track hit a bump last September 9th when Shaffer died.

Jordan and her then-boyfriend Derek Taylor appeared in a 2014 episode of 16 And Pregnant.
The cause of Shaffer’s death remains unknown, but his family had requested contributions in his memory to be made to the National Mental Health Alliance. On the hit show, crews documented how the Maryland-native and her ex-BF Derek became homeless during the pregnancy after Jordan’s parents kicked her out of the family home, and Derek refused to get a paying job.
The series chronicled Jordan’s struggles with homelessness and being disowned by her family.
Eventually, the couple split following their baby’s birth on March 7, 2014.

After checking into rehab in 2014, she had been arrested for drug possession in 2017.
Years later, Jordan returned to the ordeal and was hospitalized for an accidental overdose. She got so depressed due to the issues that were going on in her life at the time and was using drugs and drinking. Nonetheless, Jordan celebrated one year of sobriety last January and welcomed her second daughter Lyla with Schaffer in June.
In January 2021, the former reality TV star celebrated one year of sobriety.
