She had been a warrior queen in the fight against her disease.

Melanie Ham has since 2019 been sharing details of her health struggles after revealing doctors found a mass in her Kidney in December 2018. At the time, she was diagnosed with a rare type of sarcoma called Epithelioid Angiomyolipoma and underwent aggressive treatments.

YouTuber Melanie Ham, 36, has passed away after battling a rare type of cancer.

She had a popular YouTube channel dedicated to sewing, crocheting, and DIY tutorial videos.

Sadly, the popular YouTuber known for sewing, crochet, and DIY tutorials has passed away. Sharing the news on Instagram, her husband Robert wrote: “It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness I share the news of the passing of my sweet, amazing beautiful wife, Melanie.”

Robert announced her death, saying, “Melanie fought like a warrior queen” against “this insidious disease.”

In an August 2020 post, she revealed she was diagnosed with epithelioid angiomyolipoma.

“If you’ve been following our journey, I’m sure you were, like us, hopeful she could defeat this insidious disease. Over the past few months, things have been progressively getting worse, and we’re thankful that we made it to this point through the holidays and tried to make every moment count.”

She had also claimed the cancer is “very, very rare” and behaves differently than typical cancer.

In October 2021, Melanie underwent surgery, and despite a successful procedure, new symptoms emerged.

“We are short nine days of our 16 anniversary,” her husband Robert stated.

Robert praised his wife for fighting until the end and thanked all those who supported the 36-Year-Old throughout her treatment. He continued: “My family, our doctors, our nurses, and especially Melanie fought until the end and did all we could do to avoid today, but that is not our path. Let me reassure all those rooting for us; Melanie fought like a warrior queen.”

Melanie had started learning to sew in 2007 when her husband joined the army.

While sharing the news of his wife’s passing, Robert asked for prayers for his beautiful, strong children.

“Despite the deep grief my family and I feel today, we want to celebrate an amazing woman and a life well-lived.”

“She loved passionately, created beautifully, provided abundantly, and was my best friend all the way to the end. She was an extraordinary woman, and God has another beautiful angel. She can now walk, sing and dance in a way her body didn’t allow over the last few months. She relied on her faith in Jesus all the way to the end, and she will always be with me.”

Melanie was determined to focus on all of the things she was thankful for throughout her cancer journey.

Among the photos shared was a picture as he held his wife while she sat in a hospital bed, which he said was in a very vulnerable moment. In a follow-up post, Robert revealed his wife’s memorial service would hold on January 29th at the Crossroads Community Church in Valencia. He noted that colorful attire is encouraged as it would nod to his wife’s love of bright colors and fun-filled crafts.

However, Melanie, who shares a son and a daughter with Robert, gained over 800K subscribers on YouTube after sharing her crafting tutorials about crocheting, knitting, and sewing back in December 2011. Through her blog, she explained she first began dabbling in DIYA and arts and crafts in 2007, when she took a beginners’ sewing class, an experience which prompted her to buy her sewing machine not long after.

After having her kidney removed in late 2018, Melanie learned that her tumor came back in multiple locations.
