Woman With Down Syndrome, 22, Gets Signed To A Top Agency After Being Inspired By Model With Same Condition
It’s encouraging to see how companies now have diverse workers.
After seeing the work of Ellie Goldstein, a model with Down Syndrome, Beth Mathews also decided to take up modeling. And YES, the 22-Year-Old has now been signed with Zebedee, the same inclusive modeling agency as Ellie. Her modeling journey started when her family started looking into opportunities, having noticed greater demand for people with disabilities.
Since signing up with the modeling agency Zebedee, Beth Matthews, 22, is ‘blossoming.’
Her family had suggested she try the career after seeing the work of Ellie Goldstein, who has modeled for Gucci.
Beth’s mom, Fiona Mathews, claimed that since starting modeling, her daughter has blossomed, and just half an hour into her first photoshoot, she did absolutely amazing. Speaking with BBC, Fiona stated that the inclusion revolution is finally happening and that she’s delighted that her daughter will be part of it.
Half an hour into finding a stylist/photographer for her first photoshoot, Beth reportedly did amazing.
A few weeks after her photoshoot pics went viral, Beth pictured with her mom Fiona got signed by Zebedee.
She spoke of when Beth was born, revealing it was a negative experience because the family had been told their livers would be pretty difficult, but she insisted the opposite has been true. “I think we’ve had our moments like any parents with a small child, toddlers, but on the whole, Beth has always exceeded expectations.”
She has since been involved in several photoshoots.
“The inclusion revolution is happening, finally, and I’m very pleased that my daughter is going to be a part of it.”
Fiona added: “We haven’t put any barriers up to her learning, and you can see her today; she’s just tuned out to be a wonderful young lady.” The women’s booker for the modeling agency Zebedee, Ella Singleton-Redmond, also spoke of Beth, saying she’s brilliant in front of the camera and her portfolio, taken by photographer Graham Smith, she can be seen posing with Gucci-style scarves, a bright red ball gown, and some natural portraits.
When Beth was born, her family was told it would be difficult, but the opposite has become the truth.
Beth’s favorite part of the modeling process includes the hair, the make-up, and the outfits.
Ella said in recent debates on diversity; disability was often left out as a topic of interest. She added that their goal as a company is to make sure the rest of the media can do the same and represent the population effectively. She equally noted that although there’s a long way to go, people are beginning to become aware of the misrepresentation in our media, and things are starting to change.
The ultimate aim of her modeling career is to be more confident, but she has also set her sights on Hollywood.
Here’s Ellie Goldstein, the model who had worked with Gucci on a beauty campaign.
Accordingly, Julian Hallett, who works as the service development manager for the Down’s Syndrome Association, thinks it’s a delight to see Beth succeed in the career path she has chosen for herself as a young adult with Down Syndrome. He buttressed how encouraging it is to see how companies increasingly see how valuable it is to have a diverse workforce.
Beth and her story so far have inspired a family who owns a daughter with Down’s syndrome.
The family [unnamed] believes their daughter will also have a chance in life to do something special too.
Beth’s favorite element includes the glamorous outfits process of hair and makeup. While she’s aiming for more modeling gigs and acting jobs, her mom Fiona shared they received a message from a parent, who also has a daughter with Down’s Syndrome, was motivated and stated they felt she had a chance to do something just as unique as Beth.
An increasing number of people with Down’s syndrome are now in work and living semi or fully independently.
However, Zebedee’s women’s booker said Beth is brilliant in front of the camera, and as a company, they’re looking forward to representing the population.
On the other hand, Zebedee, which launched 5years ago, are specialist talent agents who supply diverse models and actors worldwide. The agency is now considered the world’s leading supplier of talent with disabilities and alternative appearances.
