Woman Who Received Heart Transplant Shares Three Bizzare Side-Effects That Made Her ‘Really Weird’
From scars to habits.
Cecilia-Joy Adamou is a woman with many proud scars of her winning her battle. She is a 22-year-old Surrey content creator who loves to share about her medical journey and experiences and improve awareness of body positivity towards scars.
She took to TikTok to reveal three very unusual things about her body post-surgery.

Cecilia was born with an Atrioventricular Septal Defect with Left Atrial Isomerism. She received two surgeries at six months and two years old. But they only lasted her six years, before she went into cardiac arrest in April 2020, and then another in September 2020 after a grueling 12-hour surgery.
But she, fortunately, found a heart donor and received the heart of a 45-year-old man 11 years ago.
Her battle didn’t end there – she suffered a kidney failure and received one from her mother. She also got a feet surgery as the nerves were damaged. Then in 2014, her immunosuppressant meds triggered two tumors on her brain and another two in her spine.
Her condition has stabilized a lot more now, and she often talks about her life as someone who’s received a heart transplant and survived.
“I had a heart from this entity, this figure, but I learned his name, I learned about his family,” she shared. “He liked collecting things, which is weird because I always collected things, he collected stamps, and when I was little, I collected dolls.”
She shows in her TikTok video how you can also literally see her heartbeats.

The second weird thing is how her hair around the area where they drilled the hole to remove her cancer never grew back, and you can still feel the hole.

And lastly, her left foot can’t do anything due to the nerves damage she sustained.

The girl now works as a model for Zebedee Talent, an agency that represents models with disabilities and visible differences.
