Brooke Smith, a stay-at-home mom sparked an intense debate on Facebook after sharing an extensive housework list
‘I have always make sure I don’t go to bed until everyone’s lunches are packed, their outfits are set out for the next day, including that of my husband’s and the house is clean, the dishwasher is on as well as a load of washing ongoing.’ Brooke, mom-of-four under the age of six explained.
Brooke from Brisbane continued: ‘I sometimes get to bed at 9 and also at midnight, but constantly wakes up early at 4:30 preparing my husband’s breakfast and coffee.’
‘I have always make sure I don’t go to bed until everyone’s lunches are packed, their outfits are set out for the next day, including that of my husband’s and the house is clean, the dishwasher is on as well as a load of washing ongoing
‘I do this to make time for me to do my hair, have hot coffee, get a little peace, meditation, and exercise. A happy mother is equal to a happy home. Do it even when you don’t feel like doing it because you will be happy for it the next day.’
Revealing her husband works 5 to 6 days a week in construction, Brooke’s post within moments of sharing turned the table around sparking a range of comments on the internet.
‘My mom used to do this for my Dad. He was born in 1929 and mum was born in 1931. Here’s 2020. My husband does his washing, my children make their own breakfast.’ A user said.

Another added: ‘No, No, sorry but No again. I so much love you are willing and able to do this. But, yes my partner works and contributes to a nice clean household cause f***k me by the time gets back home.’
‘I am lucky I haven’t pulled out my hair from yelling. I am lucky to get a shower and last an hour past the kid’s bedtime. Then again, we are all up at 4 a.m.’
Some users gave Brooke a piece of advice: ‘I think it’s so great you do it all, but you also need to share the workload. As you get older, teach your kids so they know how to when they finally leave your home.’
‘It does give great satisfaction, clean house, clean mind.’ A few said their marriage is more of an equal relationship with both pulling their fair share of the weight.
