Woman Sends 9k Text Messages After One-Time Tinder Date

A Sydney Doctor charged with sending thousands of angry messages to her former Tinder date and families has finally pleaded guilty to four harassment-related offenses.

The offender, Denise Jane Lee had sent 9000 angry messages to Mathew Holberton, and his loved ones, including his new girlfriend and family members.

Lee, 40, a radiologist was arrested in February 2017 and was pleaded guilty to three counts of using a carriage service in 2015 to harass/offend and intimidate.

The pair has had a very brief relationship before Mr. Holberton moved away from Sydney in February 2016 to reside in Melbourne.

When Mr. Holberton arrived in Melbourne, he started dating a Ph.D. student at Melbourne University, Georgia Dempster. Shortly after, Lee was arrested and found with social media pictures of Mr. Holberton tracking data and information.

Emails sent to Robin Bell, Ms. Dempster’s Mother, Bell’s colleagues at the Monash University, Robert Dempster, her father, and colleagues was found. Accordingly, the court was also explained that some of Lee’s victims had at a point thought of committing suicide.

In early October, Magistrate Michael Barko declined a defence application for the charges to be dismissed hinged on mental health.

While all of the evidence tabled was described as Vile, the two parties will now have to prepare an agreed statement of facts with the case listed for directions hearing on Tuesday.

Specifically, Sen Sgt Assaad, who said the emails questioned Ms. Dempster’s integrity added that Lee’s behavior was stalking.
