Read on and stay safe!
Social media platforms are more powerful and useful than you think. They’re now a place where people can freely share their experiences, takeaways, and advice to others anonymously. Anyone with an Internet connection and a Reddit account can share useful insights to people who might not be able to hear about it elsewhere.
One of the most popular subreddit is ‘TwoXChromosomes.’ There are currently 13 million members who support the fight to bring equality and provide a space where double-X chromosome owners can share concerns and find useful advice from others.

A recent post by u/aggressivelycanadian reminds people how important it is to be vigilant wherever and whenever.
She absolutely did not regret those time lost to reading Reddit posts and learning important survival tips as a woman.

She added that the public bathroom she’s heading had only one door for entry and exit. So if someone follows her in, she’ll be locked in with no way out.

Anyone can be a victim to assault and be subjected to dangerous situations as this user shared. Both men and women have to remain cautious whenever they are alone and if they suspect they are being followed.
In the US, over 430,000 people aged 12 and older are victims of s*sual assault or worse annually in 2018. In 2014, there were more than 550,000 reports of sexual assault in Canada. The gender proportion, however, skews heavily towards the woman. In Canada, female victims account for more than 90% of the numbers.
She later shared, “I have been wanting to report it, but didn’t know how to with such a vague facial description. I don’t know how I forgot there are cameras.”
“There were points he was so close I could hear him breathing, but I didn’t notice anyone else in that area of the mall.”

This experience has also shown how useful it was to have read that post previously. She added, “It’s funny because I have always prioritized the physical aspect of self-defense, due to how petite I am. I had never thought about ways to avoid situations altogether.”
People shared words of encouragement as well as more advice as to how to stay safe and finding this perpetrator to stop him.

One shared a solid advice which adds to the phone call tactic.
“Keep in mind; you don’t need to wait for the call to connect before saying this. Just start describing him into the dialing phone, say you are almost there, “are your brothers with you,” etc. Anything to escalate the implied threat. These men are cowards; they will bolt every time.”
Others also share their own experiences to pitch in advice to stay safe.
