Woman Plunged To Her Death From A ‘Overcrowded’ Rooftop Party In East Village

New bills have been introduced to curb the increasing numbers of rooftop parties.

It is saddening that the world has lost Cameron Perrelli to death! Recently, the young finance worker partied on the roof of a newly-renovated apartment building, The Topanga, at 202 Avenue A near the corner of East 12th St. During the rooftop birthday party, Cameron reportedly tried to cross to a neighboring building but lost her balance and fell down an airway.

Finance worker Cameron Perrelli, 24, fell to her death down the airway of a building in NYC’s East Village.

The 24-Year-Old, as expected, was rushed to a nearby Bellevue Hospital but didn’t survive. Cameron, originally from Connecticut, had completed a degree in business management at the University of Florida, as seen on her Linkedln account. She relocated to New York City in 2019 and started work at a finance company Third Bridge Group.

Her family is told three conflicting statements of how she died, including walking on an air-conditioning vent.

Cameron’s family is grieving and has also claimed that conflicting statements of how she died have emerged. Uncle Michael Perrelli told the New York Daily News that they’d got three stories. “That she was jumping from one building to the next, and we heard that she was walking on an air-conditioning vent, and then somebody just said she slipped.” Uncle Michael said.

Uncle Michael paid a tribute on Facebook.

Cameron’s dad, Louis Perrelli, expressed his anger over frequent late-night parties in the neighborhood. He added: “It’s not like her to be a risk-taker. She was always the designated driver, the good person, the peacemaker. She was an angel.” The family claimed she Cameron was a regular gym-goer, had an extensive social network of close friends, and enjoyed going to New York Rangers and Yankees games with her father.

“It’s not like her to be a risk-taker. She was always the the good person.” Cameron’s dad, Louis stated.

Carlina Rivera, New York Councilwoman, has reacted to the subject matter, saying the East Village area close to where Cameron died has been plagued by dangerous late-night parties, where revelers would jump from rooftop to rooftop. According to ABC7, Rivera had heard reports that the party early Saturday morning had been dangerously overcrowded and worked on two pieces of legislation to make the city building safer.

The two-piece legislation requires tenants to sign up to city noise codes while the second will enforce stricter oversight of rooftop use and its capacity. Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer has aired his support for the new bills while stating that the Cameron death is a tragic reminder that City Hall and Property Managers are failing to step up when it comes to rooftop parties. However, the building where she died was renovated in 2018 to build ten new apartments and duplex penthouses.

RIP, Cameron!
