This Woman Was Running When She Noticed The Same Car Kept Passing Her By, And She Captured The Horrifying Moment
She’s safe and escaped from being part of the statistic.
Samantha MacIntyre is popular on TikTok as a marathon runner with style. She’s been training for her upcoming marathon with daily runs to reach her milestone of 8 miles, but she had to skip this one time. And she’s glad she did.
For the past few months, she’s been documenting her running journey on TikTok. One particular video went over 9 million views, and it started out like any other day for her.
She talked about her outfit and also shared the playlist she was listening to while running. It stayed like any other fun video that was iconic to her account until she finally had to share something concerning.
She was hitting her 5-mile mark when she noticed something unusual: the same car that kept passing by her multiple times.
Fearing the worst, she decided to document the moment, later admitting that if the worst came to be, she wanted to leave some sort of evidence.
Samantha shared in the video, “There’s a guy in a red car that’s driven by me twice. And every time he drives by me, he has his arm out the window, and he’s, like, looking behind when he’s driving by. It’s making me really nervous.”
She would later explain that she’s seen the man work in his yard and play with his young children, which made her feel safe to go to him.
She continued, while looking over her shoulder, “I don’t know if I’m being paranoid or what. Just documenting this just in case.”
She remarked what the car looked like, along with the year and brand, but things really got tense when the car ran past her again and stopped ahead of her. Samantha commented, “I do not feel good about this.”
“I have to run by this car to get back to my car, though. There’s literally no other way around. It’s just one of those things where you don’t think it’s going to happen to you until it happens to you. “I don’t want to risk anything.”
She approached a local homeowner as she grew even more nervous with the car pulling up again. She yelled, “There’s this guy who keeps driving by and parking — do you mind if I just stay in your yard? My mom is going to come pick me up,”
“I’m just really worried that he’s going to do something,” she explained herself, and the man allowed her in. She waited in his yard until her mom came with a police officer and the video shifted to the three of them having a conversation about safety when running alone.
Her act may have saved her life and by sharing this story, she might have taught other runners on how to be safe as well.
She shared later, when she got back to her car, “Obviously that run did not go as planned. … Just please be aware of your surroundings when you are going on runs. Carry protection with you. Just be safe. If you have a gut feeling that something doesn’t feel right, please go with that gut feeling.”
“You’d rather be safe than sorry. I’m glad I called the police. I’m glad I called my parents to come pick me up.”
