Girl, 21, Found Dead After A Wardrobe Crushed Her In Hotel Room

Heartbroken mom Nicola said a wardrobe fell from the wall and crushed her daughter.

Emergency services rushed to Liverpool’s historic Adelphi Hotel at 6:37 a.m. on September 10 after it was discovered Chloe Haynes was in severe need of safety & medical attention after a wardrobe crushed her. The 21-Year-Old had allegedly woken up at night and mistook it for the toilet door.

The horrific scene came to light after Chloe’s friend returned to the room in the morning only to find her helpless.

Chloe’s mom, Nicola Williams, said the friend shouted to get help, and two men from other rooms came to help lift the wardrobe, but it was too late to save her life. The 49-Year-Old added that the closet fell from the wall and crushed her daughter’s windpipe after she got out of bed confused following a late night out.

“Chloe left Pwllheli around 7:40p.m., and they went to the Adelphi; there was some sort of engagement party or something,” the heartbroken mom said of the incidences leading to her daughter’s death.

“By midnight she had been drinking shots and so on, and she was a bit drunk, so her friend has taken her back to the hotel to sleep it off and then he’s gone back out. It seems she has got up out of the bed confused, not knowing where she is and she’s opened the door of the wardrobe maybe thinking it’s the toilet or the door to go back out of the room.”

Nicola of Wrexham, North Wales, stressed that an ample, old, heavy wardrobe fell on Chloe and crushed her windpipe.

Before her death, it’s said that Chloe enjoyed her job waitressing in the holiday park, which also provided her accommodation, and was living her best life. Nicola revealed that her daughter was planning to do her driving lessons, had saved up a little bit of money, and wanted to go on holiday with her friends abroad.

“She was beautiful, but she had struggled with confidence about herself so she didn’t really know how beautiful she was and that made her beautiful on the inside as well. She was very kind.”

Nicola continued: “I don’t know how long she was under there before she died, and we have been told somebody heard a noise from the room around 3 a.m. but didn’t report it. I just cannot believe my daughter is never coming home because of a wardrobe, for the sake of maybe two screws in a wall. Every year I take a picture of all my children on the couch in their Christmas outfits and now there will be someone missing.”

The mother says she’s determined to find out how the incident happened and wants to know every detail. She further spoke about her loss, stating her daughter loved animals and had a little dog called Archie she was obsessed with. She also claimed her little nickname for Chloe was BIRDY as she was petite, tiny, and ate like a bit of a bird.

Nicola revealed that the last 12 months saw Chloe coming out of her shell, gaining her confidence, and having a wide circle of friends.

Three men had initially been arrested for Chloe’s death but were released without charge. The men, aged 26, 46, and 49, had been charged when Merseyside Police launched an investigation into the woman’s death, but they later deemed she had died accidentally. A file has been passed to the coroner, and a pre-inquest review will occur on a date yet to be known.

It’s not the first time someone has been found dead in Adelphi hotel, which received public recognition after featuring in a 1997 fly-on-the-wall documentary series, Hotel. In 1941, Aristocrat Sir Jock Delves Broughton killed himself in the hotel when he was put on trial for the murder of his wife’s lover.
