Anne Heche Declared Brain Dead And Will Be Taken Off Life Support
Her organs are being checked for donation.
On August 5, Anne Heche got involved in a fiery car crash in Los Angeles and was hospitalized at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital, North of Los Angeles, due to a severe anoxic brain injury. Such injury is allegedly caused by a sustained lack of oxygen to the brain.
Following many efforts, the 53-Year-Old has sadly been declared brain dead and will be taken off life support.
And as per Heche’s wishes, she will stay on a ventilator to determine if her remaining organs are good enough to be donated. It was reported cocaine and fentanyl were discovered in the actress’ bloodstream after the crash, but officials confirmed she hadn’t been drinking alcohol despite being pictured with a vodka bottle in her cup holder.
Her representative explained Heche lost control of her car as it careened into a home and caused a fire that burned her, leaving her in a critical condition.
Accordingly, it’s alleged it took 59 firefighters 65 minutes to access, confine and extinguish the flames caused by Heche’s crash. She was filmed being saved from the horrific scene, wrapped in a towel to prevent infections to her severe burns, before being carried into an ambulance. In a statement released on behalf of her family and friends, a representative thanked people for their kind wishes & prayers, including dedicated staff & nurses.
It added: “Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.”
They continued it has long been her choice to be an organ donor; hence Heche will be kept on life support until medics can confirm whether she was any viable organs to donate. “Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit. More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work – especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love.”
“She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light,” the statement concluded.
However, the LAPD has been treating the crash as a potential felony due to the injuries inflicted on the woman inside the home, Lynne Mishele [pictured in a wine color top]. It is unknown what the extent of Mishele’s injuries are, but she had been photographed looking in disbelief as her life’s work ignited in a fireball after Heche tore through it at speed.
Mishele had also been seen on the sidewalk outside looking gobsmacked as firefighters battled the huge blaze that took over an hour to put out.
Notably, Heche first crashed her Mini on a garage block before racing, plowing through a hedge, and ending up fully submerged in Mishele’s home on 1766 South Walgrove Avenue. Footage equally showed Heche’s blue Mini Clubman racing down a narrow alleyway at breakneck speed before the fiery crash at Mishele’s house.
