Woman, 19, Gives Birth To Twins After Sleeping With 2 Men On Same Night

She had a paternity test to determine the father of her twins but was left shocked.

In what appears to be a one-in-a-million conception, a Brazilian woman who didn’t wish to be named has given birth to twins nine months after having s*x with two different men on the same night. Her unusual situation came to light when she decided to have a paternity test to confirm which one of the men was the father.

The 19-Year-Old, who lives in Portugal, is believed to be only the twentieth known case of Heteropaternal superfecundation in the world.

I remembered that I had had sex with another man and called him to take the test, which was positive. I was surprised by the results. I didn’t know this could happen. They are very similar,” the woman said in an interview with news outlet Globo. She did have one of the men in mind whom she firmly believed was the father of the twins, but the test result only turned positive for one child.

Her doctor, identified as Tulio Jorge Franco, said it was an extremely rare case; the boys were born healthy and never had health problems.

Dr. Tulio told Globo“It is possible to happen when two eggs from the same mother are fertilized by different men. The babies share the mother’s genetic material, but they grow in different placentas,” adding there are only about 20 other instances in the world. He further admitted he never thought he would see a situation like this in his life as it’s one in a million.

The twins, now 16-Months-Old, are currently looked after by just one of the fathers. It’s unknown if the other father plays any role.

Back in 2015, a judge ruled a New Jersey man only had to pay child support for one of two twins as he only fathered one. Amid the case, Dr. Keith Eddleman of New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital told CNN that since an egg has a span of 13 to 48 hours and sperm is visible for 7 to 10 days; there’s about a week for the fertilization of 2 eggs by two sperm from 2 separate acts of intercourse.
