Twins Are Born In Two Different Years, 15 Minutes Apart On New Year’s Eve
The birth was a ‘1 in a 2 million chance.’
Twins Alfredo and Aylin will soon join their three older siblings – two girls and a boy at the family home in Greenfield, Monterey County. But then, there’s something interesting about their delivery. The twins were delivered within minutes of each other but on different days, months, and years at Natividad Medical Center.
Twins Aylin and Alfredo Trujillo were born 15 minutes apart but will grow up celebrating different birthdays.
Alfredo [a boy] weighed six pounds, 1 ounce at 11:45 pm on December 31st, 2021, while Aylin [ a girl] weighed five pounds, 14 ounces at midnight on January 1st, 2022. Their parents, Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo are left stunned, with Fatima saying it was crazy, yet she’s glad Aylin arrived the day later.
“It’s crazy to me they are twins and have different birthdays,” mother Fatima Madrigal (pictured) stated.
“It was crazy to me they are twins and have different birthdays. I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight,” Fatima said in a press release from the medical center. She added that her family couldn’t wait to meet with the twins and that her oldest son was excited his first brother would be coming home.
Aylin was born at exactly midnight on Jan. 1 while, Alfredo was delivered first at 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2021.
Dr. Ana Abril Arias, a family doctor at Natividad Medical Group and Faculty, also expressed his amusement, saying: “This was definitely one of the most memorable deliveries of my career. It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022. What an amazing way to start the New Year!”
Twins with different birthdays are rare, and the chance of twins being born in different years is 1 in 2 million.
However, statistics have shown there are about one hundred and twenty thousand twin births in the United States each year, making up over three percent of all births. But it has been extremely rare or perhaps scare for twins from the same mother to be delivered into the world with different birthdays; hence Alfredo and Aylinhaves made HISTORY!
