Will Smith’s Popularity Dropped After Oscars Slap Per Q Scores Survey
The hate rating went up more than double.
Will Smith’s Q Scores have always been among the top 10 most positively rated actors, but it has since plummeted, Variety reported.
The poll that surveyed 1,800 US consumers who are six and up sees the resultant of Smith experiencing “a very significant and precipitous decline.”
The number dropped from an impressive 39 to 24, which means only 24 percent of those who knew the actor chose him as their favorite personality. And at the same time, his negative rating doubled to 26 from previously less than 10.
The Oscars slap saw Smith smacking Chris Rock on stage during live TV after he cracked a joke at his wife, “Jada, I love you, G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.” After returning to his seat, he yelled at the comedian twice, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!”
His wife, Jada, also suffered from her already-low score of 13 to 6. Her negative score went up to 44 from 29. Meanwhile, Rock’s favorability number remained the same, with only the public awareness rating going up from 66 to 84.
Smith has since apologized a few times over the incident, referring to his own behavior as “unacceptable and inexcusable.”
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line, and I was wrong,” he spoke in a YouTube video released back in July. “The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home.”
The Oscar-winner has since been banned from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for 10 years. He continued, “There is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment. There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to handle a feeling of disrespect or insults.”
