Vegan Who Hasn’t Used Shampoo In Six Years Hits Back At Trolls Who Call Her Dirty
Water and essential oil are all that she uses.
Laura Ashley is the “no-poo” method champion, a movement where people don’t use shampoo. And as a result of ditching the conventional products, the Riverside-based has since become a target for trolls even though she’s often complimented for her long curly locks.
The raw vegan, 27, claims the secret to her luscious hair is avoiding corporate shampoos and simply brushing her hair and then washing it with water.
The Vintage clothing business owner also shared her hair care routine online, but it has since been met with a mixed response. Some people applauded her beautiful hair while others dubbed her locks greasy and begged her to wash her mane. One person had written on TikTok: “How does it look dry and oily at the same?”
Another said: “Please teach me how to be dirty? A third stated: “It looks crunchy.”
But thankfully, Laura has laughed off those who criticize her choice while welcoming people to all have their opinions.
“I’d seen something online about some people weren’t using shampoo and the more I started diving into it, the more I wanted to take everything into my own hands and have as much responsibility as I could.”
She added: “It’s kind of a DIY experimental thing. [I remember thinking]. “Can I make my shampoo? Do we really need to rely on all these products?” My hair looks so much healthier now. It used to be pin straight, and I was constantly using heat on it and weighing down with products. Now I’ve let all of that go, I’ve got curl in my hair. It’s nice – I wake up, take a shower, and I like my hair.”

“It’s mentally healthier too, because it’s important to be comfortable. It’s not a 40-minute thing to get my hair ready in the morning. It feels healthier and it grows faster too.”
However, Laura had at a time made an all-natural concoction to wash her hair using baking soda and vinegar. But as time passed, she ditched these products and simply relied on a wide-toothed comb and water to freshen up her locks before massaging some oil into the ends. However, the vegan strongly believes her diet of six years is also a contributor to her good hair health.
