Two Teens Decided To Prove School’s Dress Codes Are Sexist And Yep, It Worked

The fight since the birth of time!

Drew Jarding and Kenzie Crimmins, two high school students, decided to prove just how sexist dress codes are by rocking the same outfits to school. The whole process was documented on TikTok and captioned: “Dressing the same to school to show dress codes are sexist.” In the video (now-viral), Drew wore a crop top and shorts while Kenzie rocked a crop top and leggings.

School dress codes are sexist; this is precisely what Drew Jarding (right) and Kenzie Crimmins (left) have proven.

The two teens made it through most of the day, walking to the classroom and dancing in front of teachers without anyone saying anything to them. But in the 7th period, Kenzie got written up for showing her stomach while Drew eventually made it scot-free. As expected, Kenzie was furious, and the situation only makes her want to wear clothes like that because the standards aren’t the same.

In a now-viral, Drew was seen wearing a crop top and shorts while Kenzie rocked a crop top and leggings.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, Drew revealed he dressed as similarly as possible but wanted Kenzie’s outfit to be a tad more discreet to show how biased they are. Kenzie also stated (referencing being written up): “They were like; your shirt is revealing and offered me to go to the resource room to change.”

According to Drew, their school’s dress code prohibits straps that show too much shoulder, spaghetti straps, ripped jeans, and crop tops. Similarly, dresses, shorts, and even shorts that are above the knee aren’t permitted. On his TikTok, Drew has been doing a dress code series, wearing different outfits to school that is in violation but has never been written up.

“And then there were a bunch of comments saying that I should do it with a girl and see if she would get dress-coded. I had known that dress codes had been unfair for a while; I just didn’t know to this extent. I was wearing multiple outfits that were going against the code or whatever, and they hadn’t said a single thing to me all the week.” Drew explained.
