Two best friends, who met in middle school 17 years ago have discovered they are biological sisters. Latoya Wimberly, 29 and Ashley Thomas, 31, residing in Philadelphia recently uploaded images celebrating their former’s engagement on Facebook.

Ashley’s late mom’s best friend reacted, admitting she had earlier known Latoya’s dad Kenneth and the two friends investigated him on his past. Their investigation resulted in Latoya asking her dad to take a DNA test after he realized he has had a brief relationship with Michelle – Ashley’s mother.

The two best friends revealed they were often told they looked alike with gaps in front teeth and cheekbones. Eventually, their moms got pregnant for the first time and at the same time.

‘I gave Latoya a shout out on Facebook and my mom’s best friend was like ‘I never knew you were Kenneth’s daughter’s best friend. I instantly called her a few days later and told her my mom’s best friend said she knew my dad and your dad might know my mom.’ Ashley explained.

In an interview with Good Morning Africa, Latoya admitted she almost passed out when her dad texted to reveal the DNA test confirmed he was Ashley’s dad. ‘I immediately reached out to Ashley. I always looked up to Ashley as if she was a big sister, we were always told we look so alike.’ Latoya added.

At age 15, Ashley found out that the man raising her wasn’t her biological dad. ‘I have been around him all my life and I have never for once thought he could be my dad. A few nights I couldn’t sleep. I am excited she’s my sister but had some emotions that this guy I have been around this whole time was my father.’ Ashley said.
