Tory MP Slams Prince Harry For ‘Sitting And Watching’ Meghan Markle Mock The Queen
Internet users have hit out at Meghan’s curtsey and the idea she didn’t know how to do one.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix documentary has been released and it begins with an attack on Buckingham Palace’s decision not to cooperate with the series that declares a fresh war on the Royal Family. The series contains tears from Meghan, who Harry compares to Princess Diana, claiming the press hunted both his mother and wife.
There are also a series of jibes at King Charles and his brother Prince William as well as speaking about the alleged racism and unconscious bias in the Royal Family.
The docu-series features six different episodes, with the first three out now and the remaining parts to be released on December 15th. So far, one of the most talked about moments of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new show has proved to be when they discussed the first time the form Suits actress met her husband’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.
The thing that has, however, rubbed people up the wrong is Meghan’s re-enactment of the curtsey she gave to Her Majesty on the occasion of their first meeting.
One among those who’ve taken exception, as a rather baffled Prince Harry sat and looked on is Tory MP, Mark Jenkinson. The 40-Year-Old was unable to keep silent on the rogue bow, which was part of the miniseries unleashed on the world. The married father-of-four has slammed the Duke of Sussex for not stepping in to prevent his wife or sticking up for the Queen after the curtsey took place.
Jenkinson told his over 12K Twitter followers: “The ultimate betrayal. And he just sits and watches.”
Princess Diana’s personal chef, Darren McGrady [pictured below] also slammed Meghan as the row over the act deepened. He took exception to several points in the show and with Prince Harry claiming his wife was like his beloved late Mother, McGrady declared: “Your wife will never be like or similar to your mother. I knew Princess Diana for 15 years. Not even close.”
The ostentatious bow seemed to upset McGrady the most, adding: “The look on his face when his wife laughs about having to curtsey to The Queen says everything for me.”
“I’ve known Harry since I held him as a baby while Princess Diana was eating cereals in the Kitchen at Windsor Castle. Prince Harry, with respect sir, your wife will never be like or similar to your mother,” McGrady stated. He further said of Meghan: “She CHOSE to marry into the Royal Family. She had a choice.
McGrady’s view of Meghan choosing to marry into the Royal Family has been echoed by many online, who believed it was disrespectful.
Royal author Gyles Brandreth called the demonstration of the curtsey ‘mocking and embarrassing. He told Vanessa Feltz’s Drivetime show on TalkTV: “Nobody curtsies to the Queen like that, and nobody would have advised her to do it that way. It’s embarrassing, because it is mocking and nobody curtsies to the Queen like that, and nobody would have advised her to do it that way.”
Gyles added: “He [Harry] would know that the bow, as it were, is a brief nod and the curtsey is to show respect for the sovereign and in the case of the Queen – a lady in her 90s who actually had earned respect through a lifetime of service, and that was it.”
He concluded: “To do this sort of mocking thing is uncomfortable, but it is a cultural difference. It’s like you would do a curtsey if you were playing in Snow White.” An anonymous as per the Daily Mail said of Kate Middleton: “The Princess of Wales had to learn many things when she because part of this family. But she was never disrespectful or made fun of it when she had to curtsey to her Majesty.
Meghan’s account of her first bow to the Queen seems to differ from her previous recollection.
In her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021, the Duchess alleged she didn’t even know how to curtsey and was shocked when Harry explained it was expected of her. She recalled: “Right in front of house we practiced and ran in. Fergie ran out and said, ‘Do you know how to curtsey? Apparently, I did a deep curtsey, I don’t remember it and then we sat there and we chatted.”
Notably, Meghan met the Queen for the first time during lunch at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
But she had alleged the whole occasion felt like an antiquated banquet at Medieval Times, a family dinner theatre in the US featuring staged medieval-style games, jousting, and sword-fighting. However, the Queen was the first senior member of the Royal Family that Meghan met after she and Prince Harry announced their relationship in 2016.
