Tommy Dorfman Is Living ‘Genuinely Happy’ Life Since Transitioning Into A Woman
“I’ve never felt better in my life.”
Tommy Dorfman from ’13 Reasons Why’ spoke to InStyle on her new life as a woman. The 29-year-old had been transitioning as a woman for a year, but she’d never officially announced it herself until her revelation in Time Magazine.
Now, a little over a month after the announcement, she’s feeling so much better in her body.
“I just switched my hormones, and I’ve never felt better in my life. I spent 28 years of my life suicidal and depressed and recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction,” she revealed.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been genuinely happy until this past year.”
She continued, “I look at the Internet chronicle of photos of me since I started working, and I can see how f**king unhappy I was in every photo. It’s wild.”
“Two weeks into having estrogen in my body, I was like, ‘Oh.’ It felt like I sank into the earth,” Tommy continued.
She told Time magazine last month, “For a year now, I have been privately identifying and living as a woman — a trans woman.”
She even recounted meeting a friend who used to know her as a boy and quoted that she had the ‘b***hiest face,’ but Tommy replied, “That’s really funny. I don’t think I was a b**ch; I was just really uncomfortable.”
“And as the testosterone leaves my body, I feel so much better. I’m more energized. I feel how I think I was always supposed to feel.”
She admitted to feeling fearful about meeting people who used to know her, yet, she was surprised that those who seemed “incredibly conservative and not accepting” texted her.
