This Restaurant Charges People For ‘Stupid Questions’ And It’s An Ongoing Joke In The Town
Enjoying life as best as we can.
When you dine in Denver, you gotta make sure that your questions make sense. Else, you’ll be charged $.38 for ‘Stupid Questions’ and Tom’s Diner isn’t joking about this. Although, everyone has to admit that it’s pretty hilarious to see.
Someone who dined in the restaurant actually posted the picture on Reddit and it got viral. People were even doubting that the receipt was real and if the restaurant is even real.
But it’s not a hoax. This restaurant is as real as it can get.
This menu is as real as it can get. You can find all kinds of sides in this diner from ‘Stupid Question’ to ‘Walk Home’, which is actually priceless for the latter. General manager Hunter Landry shared, “It’s meant to be playful. It’s good to keep things light in today’s world.”
The restaurant opened in 1999 by Tom Messina. Landry is the nephew of the genius guy who started the joke 20 years ago. Landy said, “When we have a good fun table that engages with us or when they ask about the charge, it’s always fun to add it on.”
Landry said that this actually got some customers to try and come up with hilarious questions to qualify for the side. Landry’s favorite were ‘Are there any dues for the turkey club sandwich?’ and ‘Does the ice have any water in it?’
Oh, and previously the price of the this side was 48 cents, but Landry said that they didn’t want to gauge people.
Aside from that, Landry has also added ‘Walk Home’ and ‘Skip Your Next Meal’, both of which are free of charge. He’s even considering adding sides like ‘Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously’ and ‘Love Each Other’.
Landry and his uncle are now excited because the GBX Group is taking over the properly to rebrand and renovate the diner. The building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places as it was built in 1967.
This old receipt shows an old price for the steak, but it still gave people a good laugh!
And laughter was everything Messina and his nephew wanted. Landry added, “We’re not here for a long time, so let’s enjoy ourselves and try to make the most of this life.”
