Sand Artist Makes Amazing Sculptures That Anyone Can Mistake For Real Animals If See From Afar

Everything is a medium for every true artist!

Have you ever come across a sand artist? Besides, have you imagined creating a sculpture of yourself using just sand and nothing more? Well for Artist Andoni Bastarrika, sand for sculptures is everything.

The artist’s main creation process involves the pile-up of moist sand before shaping it into an interesting expression. He sometimes, however, use materials, including clay powder, ashes, coal powder, glass shards and stone powder of numerous colors. Specifically, his works are very ambitious as they largely reflect our natural world.

Ranging from sharks to bulls and even beyond, here are some of the best sculptures Bastarrika has created, and interestingly, they aren’t just animals that he excavated, but animals he really did sculpture.

Artist Bastarrika journey using sand started in the summer of 2010 while he was on the beach with his two daughters. The 1st sculpture he created was a little mermaid and working consistently in this field has allowed him to realize his gift – the flexibility of his hands.

‘The sand interests me a lot and regardless of how you look at it, there’s a lesson it will teach you if willing. To create an incredible sculpture, an unimaginable figure of sand particles are involved, embracing each other closely through humidity, so that someone can design their union. Once an artist steps back, this piece remains at the mercy of Mother Nature, implying that the wind might dry it up or lose each particle, gradually consuming all its authenticity.’ Artist Bastarrika wrote on Facebook.

Nevertheless, Bastarrika has a thousand reasons as to why he’s so much attracted to sand but widely thinks humans should equally act the same way. He added: ‘To establish a beautiful world, humans should embrace each other very tightly.’
