Robert Downey Jr. Facetimes & Congratulates Johnny Depp Over His Trial Victory

“Thank God it’s over.”

Robert Downey Jr. is an old friend of Johnny Depp, 59. He is the latest to congratulate the Pirates of the Caribbean star over his trial win against Amber Heard. It’s alleged the 57-Year-Old celebrated his friend via a FaceTime call and uttered the word: “John, thank God it’s over.”

Depp’s close friend Josh Richman told of the mentioned above amid a charity live stream event for Children’s Hospital Los Angles.

A spokesperson for Depp has confirmed the call to The New York Post, and Josh himself explained via the live stream that the Fantastic Beasts actor was stoic in a United Kingdom hotel room when the news came in, while friends and staff cried and screamed. “Even Jeff Beck flipped off the television screen,” he added.

Josh also pointed out it wasn’t Depp’s intention to ask his ex-GF Kate Moss to testify, yet things swiftly changed when Amber took the witness stand.

During the trial, 36-Year-Old Heard had mentioned Kate’s name, and according to Josh, the notoriously private runway star was pissed and was like f**k this. However, days after she testified, Depp and the supermodel reportedly partied backstage after his cameo performance with Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall.

This comes amid Heard’s claims that the defamation trial verdict is unfair and results from biased social media representation while accusing Depp of putting paid employees and randos on the stand.

During the sit-down with Savannah Guthrie in a three-part interview, Heard hit out at the ‘hate and vitriol’ she had faced throughout the trial and in the wake of the jury’s verdict blasting the ‘unfair’ decision made against her. The actress, who flew to New York City on a private jet on Friday to conduct the interview, doubled down on accusations made by her lawyer that the jury was swayed by social media, suggesting that they were won over by Johnny’s ‘excellent acting’ on the stand.

“Even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation,’ she said. ‘You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”

Earlier this month, a jury ruled that Amber defamed her ex-husband with her op-ed article about being a sexual assault survivor. She was ordered to pay Johnny $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, although the judge reduced it to $350,000 per Virginia law. She was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages; therefore, Johnny walked away with Heard owing him $8.35 million.
