Pub Owner Shames Couple Who Had £179 Lavish Meal And Left Without Paying
“4 bottles of wine??? How did they make a run for it???”
A couple who’ve gone for a romantic dinner date on Valentine’s Day did a dine-and-dash on The Mill, a pub located in Stokesley, North Yorkshire. The pub owner called them out with a clear clip of them sitting across the CCTV as the bargaining chip.
He gave them until 4 pm, February 15, to pay their bill before he blows up the footage of the couple.
The couple racked up a total of £179. They ordered two starters, a Thai chicken curry, fillet, half lobster, and a total of four bottles of Zinfandel wine as well as a large coke.
The owner preferred to have the issue settled amicably by them paying the bill rather than taking it to the police.
A wave of comments was entered with many asking by 4 pm if it was paid yet. The owner, unfortunately, shared, “An amazing amount of people asking ‘have they paid’, including North Yorkshire Police, Teesside Live & Yorkshire Live.”
“Sadly it hasn’t, we’ve been assured it will be paid tomorrow when he gets paid.”
Many were pessimistic, but the £179.20 bill was actually paid off the next day!
“The bill has been paid by an anonymous female believed to be his girlfriend!” the owner shared. “Bless, who said romance is dead.”
People were bewildered by the man’s action with many hoping the woman would dump him. One wrote, “That’s one Valentine’s she won’t forget having to pay that out.”
“Ohh the shame hope she doesn’t marry him,” wished another.
“No 2nd date there then,” a third commented.
And there’s a surge of people pointing out that four bottles of wine were enough to make anyone “forget” to pay the bill!
