Their faces scream-out-loud regrets!

A set of people were journeying through the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya when they unexpectedly came across a cheetah family on the brim of a river. The river was water-logged, its current was strong, but even at that, the animals did not have any concern. They only have one goal to achieve – crossing the river – and they made up their minds to go for that.

The major cheetahs dived into the water, and the explorers lost their breath instantaneously. As everybody waits in expectation, predicting whether the swimmers will be able to get to the other side, photographers Arnfinn Johansen and Buddhilini De Soyza grabbed the opportunity and took out their cameras -they both managed to flawlessly capture the drama that took place.

Arnfinn Johansen revealed he had been following the five cheetahs for a while. ‘They search for food on both sides of the Talek River that they wanted to cross it. Normally, they cross the river by walking on stones, 2020 has been rainy, resulting in flooding -it was very difficult for them to use their usual method, Johansen explained.

He added: ‘The cheetahs were walking up and down for a while, looking for how to get to the other side of the river. Due to the strong current of the river, it was very daring. Interestingly, the river is home to Nile crocodiles who could easily feed on the Cheetahs.’

The photographer continued admitting that casualties were certainly possible that day. ‘Not long ago, another famous cheetah drowned or got killed by the crocodile when it was trying to cross the same river, so crossing the river is very risky. After a long survey of the area, the five cheetah’s brother went for it.’

Johansen said the cheetahs were swimming as fast as they could and luckily, all managed to cross to the other side of the river alive, while the chief cheetah shook his hair and his tail, and even hissed at the river.
