Mom Shares Her Son’s Coming Out Notes, And It’s Too Wholesome

The harder this year might have been to be for some people, the easier it is to cry at the kindest, most wholesome things like this thread of coming out story by a 13-year-old boy. Amanda Mancino-Williams received quite a surprise a few days before Christmas from one of her kids.

She decided to share what that surprise was: a booklet of her boy’s confession.

Amanda wrote that his 13-year-old boy left her something in front of the door. That was common for the family and it’s usually when the kids have something important that they want to talk about.

“Dear mum, I have created an extremely cringe crange little book to tell you something. This is a daughter. (dot-er). this is a son. (sun),” he continued writing, making puns out of the names.

“I was originally expected to be an artist who specialised in pointillsm, but I have discovered that being a ball of gas suits me better.”

Things we have in common: being your son (sun).

If this isn’t the cutest thing ever done by a 13-year-old boy, I don’t know what to say anymore.

Children do not always express themselves in ways that adults perceive to be gender-conforming. In fact, an observation of 687 boys and girls below 10 years old show that 22.8% of boys and 38.6% of girls displayed gender-atypical behaviors. Of course, the intensity differs between kids.

Mom added that it was his wish for this little booklet to inspire others.

A study shows that children who are allowed to socially transition, which means to allow them to live openly as and recognized as the gender they transitioned to, are just as mentally healthy as their peers.

Socially transitioned transgender children supported in their gender identity have developmentally normative levels of depression and only minimal elevations in anxiety. They develop less tendency of psychopathic behaviors compared to children who don’t socially transition.

The reaction online has been very positive with over 76.8k likes on Twitter.
