Jennifer Lopez, A.k.a J.Lo and Shakira recently delivered a memorable halftime performance at this year’s Super Bowl. People appeared talking more about the performance than the game itself. Nevertheless, people’s reactions were very mixed.

With some applauding the superstars for their singing and stage performance, others dubbed the whole performance ‘Overly-sexualized.’ But regardless of wherever one stands on the subject matter, there’s one interesting aspect of the show we all can reach a consensus on.

Fortunately, Jennifer and Shakira didn’t make any earning from the show. Instead, the superstars will be paid union scale, a fraction of the 6 and 7 figure sum. Many Super Bowl Halftime performers, including Maroon 5 had basically worked for free.

This doesn’t, however, mean the NFL is being cheap. The organization, according to Forbes spends an estimated $10million for production costs, giving performers the chance to advertise their work in the presence of over 100milllion people.

‘The Super Bowl halftime remains a high spot for many artists. Some of those artists do not see their personality as a political statement, nor do they perceive the show as a cultural battleground, but instead see their live performance as an opportunity to entertain millions of viewers.’ Lori Landow of Fox Rothschild, who’s also an entertainment attorney told Forbes.
