Man Wants To Ban His Girlfriend From Using Tampons

Stories hinged on Boyfriends buying their girlfriends tampons have left social media users in positive reactions countless times. But the reverse is the situation in this article as a man has been slammed for claiming he will dump his GF if she doesn’t stop using tampons. 

The dubbed ‘Bizzare rule’ has been shamed, and internet users have revealed the man is just out of order. In the post shared to the AmITheA**hole Reddit, the unidentified man explained that his GF is forgetful; hence she hardly changes her tampons very regularly. The man expressed his fear and claimed his GF’s unhygienic habit could result in severe health problems, including Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).

TSS is regarded as a rare and possibly life-threatening health problem caused by tampons abandoned in the vagina for an extended time. The man also admitted he had no issue with women using tampons but does have an issue with GF using tampons for a few reasons. 

‘She doesn’t change them regularly enough, in my opinion. I think it’s a forgetfulness thing. She doesn’t take the risk seriously. This stresses me out because I am worried she will get sick. However, I have never made demands until recently.’ The man wrote.

According to the post, the man’s GF had been forced to seek medical help, having experienced a traumatic ordeal, and of course, it led to a demand that she stop using them altogether. ‘She furious with me. She says I am controlling. Says a man shouldn’t be demanding to women what sanitary products to use.’ The man stated, adding this was a deal-breaker if she didn’t follow his rules. 

He concluded: ‘These are all things I agree with usually. But I am at a point where it’s a hill, and I am willing to die on, and it might be a deal-breaker if she doesn’t agree to this.’ Unsurprisingly, the majority appeared to agree with the man’s girlfriend.  ‘You can express your worries, but you don’t get to forbid or ask her to do something different with her body functions.’

‘If you can’t stand worrying about her, then you may need to break up with her. That’s the only thing actually in your full control right now – whether to stay and worry and hope she changes or decided that this is too much for you to deal with and leave. Sorry, but her body, her choice, your emotions/body, your choice.’ A user said.

Another added: ‘It seems like you’re well-meaning, but it’s not your call to make. How will you feel if she asked you to stop using toilet paper because she thought you used it wrong?’ A third commented: ‘You don’t need to micromanage her period. Write that down, and every time you get the urge to forbid her from tampons, read it, and then sit back down.’

A few agreed he has every reason to be worried and that his GF’s is being irresponsible. ‘I couldn’t disagree with this, and as s a loving partner in a relationship, he can totally ban his GF from doing something harmful. This is taking her body, her choice, way too far and out of context. She is doing something that could end up fatal. You’re right that it should be an ultimatum; either she looks into using different products or proves she can use tampons correctly, or he leaves her.’ A fourth added.
