Lost Dog Won The Felbridge Show After Escaping His Home

Bonnie, a five-year-old dog, was declared the winner at the Felbridge show. But at the time she was bestowed the rosette, the dog did not have her owner with her.

Bonnie was also a missing pet around her area in Bolney, West Sussex.

She was seen by John Wilmer, the man who later entered her into a show. Bonnie was brought along with his two other dogs to enter the show as they were already on the way. The beagle came third in the rescue dog class and needless to say, John and her actual owner were proud of her.

“She was such a lovely dog, I thought it’d be good to enter her,” said John.

“I was in a bit of a rush to get there when we found Bonnie and put her in the car. I left a message on Facebook before taking her to the show. I was so pleased she did so well.”

Bonnie’s owner, Paula Closier, had put out a missing pet announcement on social media, asking for people to help her family find Bonnie. Obviously relieved from finding her back, Paula said, “We’re so thrilled she’s safe and well and also a winner. You couldn’t make this stuff up.”

“We were frantic as we live right by a main road. Bonnie used to be a street dog and we were so worried she wouldn’t have known to come back.”

Paula shared that Bonnie was a rescue dog they adopted four years ago. Bonnie was saved by a charity organization and was living on the streets of Crete. Paula shared, “She’s had such a full life. When John brought her back to us with a rosette we couldn’t believe it. It’s a shame she didn’t come first in the show.”
