Lizzo Calls Herself And Kim Kardashian ‘Modern Day Body Icons’ And Says She Likes ‘Being Fat’

“I like being fat, and I’m beautiful and I’m healthy.”

The discussions around Lizzo were often about her weight and body more than it was about her music career. Unfortunately, not many people knew that Lizzo has an angelic voice that can bless your ears, but hey, Lizzo is also loving how things are going right now, too.

People interviewed Lizzo who talks about being a “modern-day body icon” and making a standard that is not Kardashian’s.

The 33-year-old told People how she “had to blaze a trail” and rose to popularity with her body-positive music that resonated with others.

“I think I have a really hot body! I’m a body icon, and I’m embracing that more and more every day,” she confidently said about herself.

“It may not be one person’s ideal body type just like, say, Kim Kardashian might not be someone’s ideal, but she’s a body icon and has created a modern-day beauty standard,” the Grammy winner continued.

“And what I’m doing is stepping into my confidence and my power to create my own beauty standard. And one day that will just be the standard.”

Lizzo shared, however, that just being herself was challenging enough to go through life hurdles. Growing up in a Black family who was, and still is, proud in their culture and blood made her realize early on the pressure and discrimination she may have to face in life.

“They taught me at a very young age how America treats Black people. How it treats Black women,” she shared. “And I saw very quickly how we treat fat people.”

While she was “cynical” Lizzo started to hike the ladder of success and thought of ways to make it work for her.

“I was like, ‘OK, what can I do with this? How can I make the best of this? I wasn’t supposed to survive,” she asked herself.

“I wasn’t supposed to make it this far. I wasn’t supposed to be a millionaire. I wasn’t supposed to be a sex symbol. I wasn’t supposed to be on the cover of PEOPLE, but I am. So how can I make this worthwhile? How can I make this not just a flash in the pan?”

And she’s embracing her “fat”-self with every single passing day. Lizzo said, “I know I’m fat. It doesn’t bother me. I like being fat, and I’m beautiful and I’m healthy. So can we move on?”
