Kanye West Dropped By Talent Agency CAA After Making Antisemitic Comments
“We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform.”
Brands and entertainment companies seem to be cutting ties with Kanye West one after another after his controversial comments. The “Donda” rapper is quickly losing his contracts and partnerships as companies decided they do not wish to “amplify his platform.”
After CAA talent agency, MRC Studio also reported they’re shelving a finished documentary about the Yeezy owner.
LA Times first reported on Monday that Ye lost his contract with CAA after making controversial statements on top of his disturbing behaviors over the years towards his ex-wife and then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.
On the same day, Variety also reported that they’ve canceled releasing a completed documentary about the rapper’s music career. The reason was the antisemitic comments he made that also got him suspended on Instagram again. The internal memo read, “This morning, after discussion with our filmmakers and distribution partners, we made the decision not to proceed with any distribution for our recently completed documentary about Kanye West. We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform.”
“Kanye is a producer and sampler of music. Last week he sampled and remixed a classic tune that has charted for over 3,000 years — the lie that Jews are evil and conspire to control the world for their own gain.”
Ye had accused that Diddy was being controlled by Jews a few weeks ago on Instagram. After his account was suspended, he continued his disturbing comments on Twitter and wrote that he was “going to death con 3” against Jewish people.
He continued, “The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
Vice added fuel to the fire by releasing their full interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson where he made even more antisemitic comments. And earlier this month, there was the surprise Yeezy fashion show where his models wore “White Lives Matter” shirts and saw several celebrities, including Candace Owens, supporting him.
Balenciaga had also notably cut their ties with him, along with other brands such as Gap and Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Adidas has been holding out so far and hasn’t commented on Ye’s recent behavior.
Ye was confident and spoke at a podcast recently, “The thing about me and Adidas is I can literally say antisemitic sh** and they can’t drop me. I can say antisemitic things and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?”
UPDATE: Adidas has let go of Ye after being pressured by the mass.
In their latest press release, Adidas announced the termination of their partnership with Ye “immediately.” They do not “tolerate antisemitism” and that “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous.”
The statement continued, “This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to €250 million on the company’s net income in 2022, given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.”
