Johnny Depp’s Ex Ellen Barkin Says ‘He Was Drunk Almost All The Time,’ Dubbed Him A ‘Controlling, Jealous Man’

The defamation trial had recently listened to what Johnny Depp’s former partner, actress Ellen Barkin, had to say about their relationship. The 68-year-old was romantically involved with the actor since 1990 and finally dated the man in 1994.

The two dated for several months, and throughout the time they were together, including when they became co-stars in “Fear and Loathing,” she was “always aware” that Depp was a heavy drinker.

Barkin could be heard in the depository video, “He was drunk all the, most, a lot of the time.”

She also remembered that he enjoyed red wine and was a drug abuser who used cocaine, marijuana, and hallucinogenic drugs. She continued, “I couldn’t even tell you. He was always drinking or smoking a joint.”

She then recalled the one time he went “out of control” during the filming of “Fear and Loathing.”

She said, “Mr. Depp threw a wine bottle across the hotel room in one instance, in Las Vegas while shooting Fear and Loathing. A fight was going on, between Johnny Depp and his friends in the room, the assistant.”

Barkin confirmed that the toss did not hit her or anyone in the room.

Barkin also spoke of what kind of man Depp was when they were together 25+ years ago, “He’s just a jealous man, controlling, where are you going, who are you going with. What did you do last night.”

“I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted it came from having sex with a person who wasn’t him.”

They ended with a “big goodbye” and she never heard from the man anymore.

Depp’s therapist, Dr. Alan Blaustein, recounted during their 18 sessions that Depp once told Amber Heard that she was his “mother and psychotic sister.”

He also recalled telling Depp to be careful of his “drug use and his turning to drugs to relieve the psychic pain.” He added, “He expressed having issues with anger. He expressed feelings of jealousy but I don’t remember if it was about affairs.”

He also recounted what the formerly married couple was like, “It was a very chaotic relationship, lot of fluctuations, up and down.”

“Lots of anger in both places. High-intensity affect, emotional expression,” he continued in addition to the “rage and chaos” that Depp said in and outside his marriage. “This included the mother of his children, arguments about child care, visitation, access to the children,” explained the doctor.

He added that Depp had “transitional issues with his memory” and he had “trouble holding onto things from five minutes ago, trouble remembering words if I distracted him with conversation.”
