Johnny Depp Spent $62,000 On Dinner To Celebrate Win Over Amber
“It was a real honor to have him here.”
Johnny Depp, 58, spent more than $60,000 on “authentic Indian cuisine” with his friends in Birmingham, England. The ‘Edward Scissorshands’ actor left a “down-to-earth bloke” to the staff as he’d just won $10.35 million from the defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.
The actor was reportedly singing with his bandmates in England when the verdict was announced in Virginia, US. By Sunday morning, Depp was celebrating his win in Birmingham, England with “authentic Indian cuisine” at the Varanasi restaurant.
Enjoying the same “heavenly recipes and soothing ambiance” were over 20 other people, including Jeff Beck, his common music collaborator and friend Jeff Beck, 77. The group had booked the restaurant for their private event before they left around midnight.
One of the operations directors, Mohammed Hussain, recalled, “We had a call out of the blue on Sunday afternoon saying that Johnny Depp wanted to come to eat with a group of people.”
“I was shocked, and at first, I thought it might have been a wind-up [joke]. But then his security team arrived [and] checked out the restaurant, and we let them have the whole place because we were concerned that he might be bothered by other diners.”
The group was served with shish kebabs, chicken tikka, paneer tikka masala, lamb karahi, and tandoori king prawns, as Hussain recalled. He gushed over the man, “[He] spent a lot of time speaking with the staff, our friends, and family and was happy to pose for pictures with them. You would never have thought that he was such a big star. He had a lot of time for us all.”
While the total bill was not disclosed by the executives, Hussain chimed that “it was easily in five figures.”
He commented, “We made more money from Depp’s visit than we did from our busiest night of the week, which is a Saturday when we have around 400 diners.”
The surprise for Hussain wasn’t over as at some point during the party, Depp “wanted a little break from everybody” and sat with the man in his office. They conversed as the A-list had a conversation with him about the CCTV.
The two did not talk about the court case and Hussain continued, “It was just a nice conversation with a very humble man. I’m still pinching myself because I never dreamt that Johnny Depp would be in my office having a chat about how the CCTV in the restaurant works.”
“It was a real honor to have him here.”
The musician has made several surprise appearances in some stages of other guitarists throughout the time he hopped on Beck’s tour in the UK. His formal schedule was to perform in Symphony Hall.
