Marvel Hero Jeremy Renner Breaks Silence After Snow Plowing Accident
Fellow actors and celebrities sent their best wishes to the man.
Actor Jeremy Renner is awake and updated his fans that he’s still “too messed up” after the incident in Reno, Nevada, but thanked their kind words and good wishes.
The 51-year-old had to go through two operations to place metal pins around his leg.
“Thank you all for your kind words,” wrote the actor. “I’m too messed up now to type, but I send love to you all.”
Fellow actors and celebrities sent their best wishes to the man. Chris Hemsworth wrote, “Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way!”
“Tough as nails. Love you buddy,” wrote fellow retired “Avengers” actor Chris Evans.
Paul Bettany left his comment as well, “Love you mate. Sending you love and healing.”
It’s been revealed that Renner was apparently helping out a family member who was driving his car and got stuck in the snow near his house.
Washoe County sheriff Darin Balaam revealed in a news conference that Renner decided to help them out with his own snow plow, which was the PistenBully vehicle that weighs at least 6,500kg.
Renner got out to talk with the family member when he noticed the plow was rolling down the street. The actor tried to get back in to stop the car, but instead, was run over by it. There was no foul play and it was purely an accident.
His neighbors immediately “came out with towels” and tried to help while emergency services were called and the police were alerted.
Severe snowstorm blowing throughout New Year has caused a heap of snow pile burying cars and roads. Over 5 feet of snow was recorded and several families have been left with no electricity and running water for two days.
Renner has been praised as a great member of the community, housing several of his own heavy machinery and vehicles such as the fire truck. He’s been helping out with removing the snow from the road when the storm subsided.
Reno’s mayor, Hillary Schieve, remarked, “He is always helping others.”
A friend who’s known him for years shared with DailyMail, “He had some family up here. His nephew was with him. They shut down the mountain because all the people skidded out.”
“He got quite a few wounds on him but he’s ok now. He’s talking and everything, though he’s got some recovery to do. They put a pin in his leg.”
Neighbors also revealed that Renner was operated on at Nevada’s top orthopedic hospital, Renown Regional Medical Center.
The plow’s safety feature had reportedly failed and caused it to roll over his leg.
Renner’s family has thanked the doctors, nurses, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County sheriff, Reno City mayor Hillary Schieve and the Corano and Murdock families, and “the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
