Jennifer Lawrence Says ‘30 Rock’ Line Changed Her Perception About Being A Republican
The one line Tina Fey’s character said in ‘30 Rock’ changed her perception as a 16-Year-Old.
Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has revealed one line from ‘30 Rock’ changed her mind about being a Republican. In 2020, the 32-Year-Old declared herself a Republican before President Donald Trump entered the White House. In the 2008 presidential election, she also had voted for John McCain when he ran against Barack Obama.
Jennifer Lawrence’s change of mind emerged after stumbling upon an episode of the hit sitcom in her teen years.
She told Vogue for their October Issue that the one line Tina Fey’s character Liz Lemon said changed her perception as a 16-Year-Old. The line-changing Liz Lemon line for the Hunger Games star was: “Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn’t mean I don’t love America.”
Lawrence said that being a Republican, she posed the question, “Why should my taxes pay for your haughty lifestyle.”
As per Page Six, she then said of her current views: “Nobody likes to see half their paycheck go away, but it made sense to me. Yeah, for the greater good, I guess it makes sense.” When she declared being a Republican in 2020, the Kentucky-raised said she saw the fiscal benefits of some of the Republican policies but realized the party’s social policies didn’t align with her views and, as a result, changed her politics based on the things she learned.
Page six reported that Trump’s election particularly changed everything for the Silver Linings Playbook actress, as she had shared: “This is an impeached president who’s broken many laws and has refused to condemn white supremacy, and it feels like there has been a line drawn in the sand. I don’t think it’s right. It just changes things for me.
