‘Incel’ Has Become A Commodity – What’s The Difference Between ‘Joker’ And ‘John Wick’?

Whatever. I’m pumped for this movie.

Keanu Reeves killed 290 people throughout the 3 movies as John Wick and what happens was people were praising the movie and the actor. And that was earned because the movie had really good cinematography, great stunts and keep viewers’ adrenaline pumping up to the end of the movie.

‘Joker’ is an upcoming movie slated for release on October 4th and the first few people who went to the premiere are already praising the movie. It’s one that seems to be scheduled for Oscar thanks to the immersive soundtracks, acting and, of course, dare I say, ‘beloved’ character by DC Comics.

Well, until a certain reporter has decided to ask whether the movie is going to incite violence because of its theme. That is a common question regarding movies that focus on villains and their destruction. But Todd Phillips had to emphasize once more that no, that’s not the main issue.

Speaking to The Wrap, Phillips said, “We didn’t make the movie to push buttons. I literally described to Joaquin at one point in those three months as like, ‘Look at this as a way to sneak a real movie in the studio system under the guise of a comic book film’.

He added, “It wasn’t, ‘We want to glorify this behavior.’ It was literally like ‘Let’s make a real movie with a real budget and we’ll call it f–ing Joker’. That’s what it was.”

He’s also baffled at how “outrage” is nowadays “commodity” where people seem to like to trigger arguments and even suggest something many may have not even considered. Yet, people were “laughing and hooting and hollering” for John Wick.

Sure, everyone can say John Wick did it ‘for a good cause’ and ‘revenge’. Does that make killing based on ‘revenge’ justifiable? Will you teach your children to hurt back the people that hurt them? Call people names when they feel wronged, etc? No, we want our children and ourselves to be reasonable people who stop, wait, and be patient when people are angry, provocative and aggressive.

Any law enforcement member can tell you that it’s always run and hide from a dangerous situation. Fight back only when there’s no choice left, but John Wick definitely did not heed the first two as violence was clearly glorified in that movie. And he’s an assassin, not a hero either.

Joker Movie

‘Joker’ is a story about society that broke down a man who found delight in chaos and anarchy. It is a story that truly dives in the character of ‘Joker’ and if anyone should feel ‘inspired’ to do as he does. It is pretty safe to say those people had a predisposition to be one and was only seeking for any kind of trigger.

What seems to be even more interesting is how this conversation seems to only happen between media outlets and the crews, while majority of the viewers are not even interested. How many of us met friends or family members that actually talked about this movie’s violence side?

So, let’s just give our thoughts after the movie is out, not before.
