In A Cynical World, Classic Peter Pan Adaptation ‘Wendy’ Is Probably All We Need

We never wanted to grow up.

As Peter Pan and Tinkerbell left the sight of Wendy and his brothers reuniting with their parents, how many of us secretly wished she had stayed? After all, it doesn’t sound so bad to stay children and happy forever is it?

Benh Zeitlin’s adaptation of ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ took a bit of a wild turn, focusing on Wendy, a girl who’s fighting for her freedom of childhood.

The summary of the film reads: Lost on a mysterious island where aging and time have come unglued, Wendy must fight to save her family, her freedom, and the joyous spirit of youth from the deadly peril of growing up.

And it may just be the most beautiful thing ever. As childish Peter Pan was, it was one adult movie on letting go for love, learning to love, beloved, and understand what growing up truly means.
