Huge Sinkhole With Bright Green Liquid Opens Up In Toronto

It’s a non-toxic dye, city officials say!

Massive sinkholes transpire when the surface layer of the ground collapses; they vary in size and can be spotted worldwide. Sinkholes result in chasms in the environment, and just recently, a huge one with a bright green liquid reportedly opened up in Toronto.

The green liquid, recognized as a non-toxic dye, was spotted on Hastings Avenue near Gerrard Street East. Photos of the unexpected occurrence saw the green liquid coming out of the vast cracked concrete.

According to the city authorities, residents are not expected to be worried about the startling sight, especially as it’s a common occurrence. The Toronto water staff has inspected the sinkhole, explaining it might have resulted from a damaged or collapsed sewer.

‘To determine if the sinkhole is connected to an underlying sewer, a dye test was conducted using a green, non-toxic dye. It was added to the sinkhole while monitoring the closest manhole downstream to look for traces of the dye in the sewer.’ A spokesperson reportedly added.

The city official used CCTV in the sewer to determine the source of the problem. Likewise, repairs are scheduled to begin once the source of the sinkhole is detected. Uploaded to Twitter by User @richard680news, the occurrence has people cracking hilarious jokes about the green liquid. A few people dubbed it the Ghostbusters while some joked Ninja Turtles appeared in Toronto.
