Gal Gadot Cast As Cleopatra And Receives Splitting Opinions From People
Too white?
Gal Gadot is an amazing actress, she did well as Wonder Woman. But after people received the news that she will be portraying human history most powerful woman, the reactions have appeared to be mixed. Some believe she is only going to do well, but others think her ancestry does not historically fit Cleopatra’s background.
Paramount Pictures won their first ever major project package and getting Gal Gadot to star as ‘Cleopatra’, written by Laeta Kalogridis per Deadlines report. She’s also the writer responsible for other successful movies such as ‘Shutter Island’ and most recently ‘Alita: Battle Angel’.
This controversy began because Cleopatra’s ancestry could not be confirmed 100%. While her Macedonian background has been confirmed, it wasn’t clear what her other half was.
Several fans have appeared, while others questioned the cultural appropriation.
Cleopatra died in 30 BC as the last ruler of Ptolemaic Kingdom. She is the seventh of her line to be named ‘father’s glory’ by Pharaoh Ptolemy XII. She and the rest of her royal family members are Macedonian Greeks, who ruled Egypt for more than 270 years.
