Footage Shows Woman Struggling With Security Before She ‘Jumped Off’ Cruise Ship
Coast guard searched about 2515 miles in 14hrs before suspending their search.
A new video that explains what recently transpired on the Carnival Valor Cruise Ship has emerged and is now viral. It shows three security guards holding an apparently frantic women’s arms behind her back, and despite prior claims from passengers, it happens the woman wasn’t handcuffed.

Reportedly, she was heard screaming out the name Alicia as the guards helped her up a flight of stairs and off of the pool deck after an alleged hot tub incident.

Shortly after being escorted off the deck, the woman, 32, allegedly broke free from the guards and jumped off the tenth floor of the ship and into the ocean. Her leap wasn’t shown in the video, but passengers on board told FOX 8 that she hit the side of the boat first before hitting the water face.

Passengers are seen rushing to the edges of the ship as the crew tossed life preservers and flares to mark her position in the water, but the woman vanished into the ocean.

It’s claimed that she was traveling on the Carnival Valor with her husband on a 5-day cruise to Mexico, having departed from New Orleans. However, the Coast Guard has suspended its search for the woman, whose name remains unknown. “Security got her out of the hot tub. Whenever they got to take her into custody, apparently she was upset and went over the rail,” Kim Barnette, a witness, told WAFB.

Another passenger, Emil Avenarius, also told Nola.com that “Security tried to calm her down, and she was belligerent toward them.”

Emil added that they had to restrain the woman because she was combative but broke loose and flipped herself over the side. The retired law enforcement officer also claimed another eyewitness told him she “saw blood and jerking motions” after the woman went overboard. “She said it looked like a seizure and I said that might have happened with the head injury.”

According to U.S. Coast Guard Officials, the incident occurred at sea day as the ship began its route back to New Orleans after visiting ports of call in Costa Maya and Cozumel. Speaking about the suspension of search, Chief Warrant Officer Tricia Eldredge, Command Duty Officer at Sector New Orleans, told Fox 8, “The decision to suspend a search and rescue case is never one we come to lightly. We offer our deepest sympathies to the family during this difficult time.”

Carnival has claimed their care team is providing support for woman’s husband and family. But it’s unknown if any other members were onboard the ship.
