Girl, 5, Swept Out To Sea On Inflatable Unicorn Saved By Ferry Workers
Rescue mission 100% successful!
Just imagine being on a beach vacation with your family and one of your children swept out to the sea on an inflatable unicorn, how would you’ve reacted? Turns out, a little girl recently got swept by the ocean’s current while floating on top of a giant inflatable unicorn, but luckily she got rescued before it was too late.
Reportedly, the little girl between the ages of 4-5 floated an estimated 804meters away from the Greek coast, the location she and her parents visited over the weekend. Accordingly, the parents contacted the port authorities after realizing their daughter was out of sight. Fortunately, she was found in the middle of the sea and her inflatable unicorn was equally maneuvered back to safety.
The little girl had been playing in the ocean, situated at the town of Antirio in the Gulf of Corinth when she swept out to sea. Her parents panicked but got relieved after the big rescue. Footage of the incident featured the ferry captain, identified as Grigoris Karnesis, slowly approaching the young girl before plucking her out of the ocean and saved by the boat’s team.
‘I was traveling on my regular route when I received a call asking if I had seen a little girl on an inflatable unicorn. The girl was indeed flabbergasted and terrified. She had grabbed tightly onto her inflatable swing ring before the rescue.’ Captain Karnesis had told Skai TV.
The captain went on to brush off the comments that he hadn’t done anything noteworthy. He added: ‘I only did what anyone would have done. I am entitled to do it not because of the nature of my work, but as a human being. There is sincerely no need for someone to thank me. I did something anyone would have done.’
Nevertheless, it’s best to be aware of the waves as they might come and suck you in before you know it.
