Employee Donated Donuts To Homeless Instead Of Throwing Them Out, Got Fired
Food waste is such a simple issue, yet, nobody wants to step up to solve it.
How can you throw away excellent food into the bin? Many companies employ this policy to avoid issues with donating food. In their defense, companies want to avoid being sued by people who might claim to get sick from their food.
But in the US, food waste is a severe issue. FDA reports that food waste is estimated at between 30–40 percent of the food supply, which is about 133 billion pounds and $161 billion worth of food in 2010. Enough food to build a whole Empire State Building is thrown away annually. Imagine how many homeless and people living in poverty could have benefitted if that much food was being allocated properly?

This boy shows his closing routine which is going to hurt a lot of people.
The boy who shows the eye-opening food waste in his donut joint is Bryan Johnston. The 16-year-old has been working in this joint for 5 months and went viral because people are upset with how food is being treated here. Bryan has posted many similar videos during his closing hours.
It’s just true pain to see so many donuts thrown away.
Dunkin’ Donuts explains that it is up to their managers choice whether they want to throw away or donate the leftover food.

However, Bryan being the good-natured boy he is, was prompted to try giving out those food to homeless people.
He actually did pack up some donuts and gave them out!
He handed out the donuts to homeless people and those in need. He also handed out some for the firefighters.

This obviously means that he’s in for some trouble. A company’s policy is absolute, and the manager has all the rights to fire him for breaking one of them. Because it’s money and company’s image over a boy’s kindness, the conclusion was obvious.
He got fired for real.
“Today, I got to work and this happened.”

Bryan explained, “I got fired because corporate apparently contacted my manager about the video, and she went and fired me. As you can tell from these pictures, today has been hard for other reasons, too.”
“Clearly, Dunkin’ doesn’t want people to see that they’re throwing away that many donuts. Just because they don’t want to pay people to give them to the homeless.”
People add their thoughts to this issue.
