Ian Salisbury, 68, the General Manager spotted the elephant calculating how to haul its 4-giant legs over the stone without falling.

Hilarious pictures captured by the manager featured the mammal hitching its legs over the wall, the same way a human being would traverse the obstacle.

Successfully wandering into the camp, the managing director of The Bushcamp Company, Andy Hogg, the owner of the lodge also captured the huge creature attempt as well as its failed hunt for fruit.

A family of elephants visited the location in Southern Africa within October and Mid-December, and this unanticipated mammal was undoubtedly too late, hunting for mangoes that were out of season.

‘He chose the most accessible route and made himself right at home. The guests were shocked at the concept of a climbing elephant. They were in amazement that it might bother to climb over the high wall. They were all out on a Safari drive in the National Park at that time, so guests were all sad to have missed seeing the whole scene.’ Ian from Bacup said.

The lodge, however, has a central foyer area that’s open and mostly attracts a family of elephants in the early winter. But the elephants normally take a stoned pathway, rather than taking a direct route of the wall.

‘He was a stranger, he wanted to investigate. He wanted to get into the central area where a big mango tree grows. He was clearly hungry and hoped to get some wild mangoes, although there aren’t any left presently.’ Ian added.

He continued: He came, stretched over, looked around, ate a bit of grass then strangely turned round before coming back the same way – quite amusing. His easiest way of getting there was to climb over a high wall. It’s really unusual behavior for an elephant to climb that high.’
