‘Do The Right Thing’ Star Danny Aiello Has Passed Away At 86

He is a long-time best friend of Robert De Niro from his small role in the movie ‘Bang the Drum Slowly’.

Danny Aiello is a veteran actor known mostly for his role in the 80s movies. He is a long-time best friend of Robert De Niro from his small role in the movie ‘Bang the Drum Slowly’. He also delivered the famous line, “Michael Corleone says hello!” in ‘The Godfather: Part II’.

He passed away at New Jersey, in a medical facility where the native New Yorker was admitted into due to a sudden infection case that stems from his treatment.

Aiello’s family’s rep gave their official statement on his passing, “It is with profound sorrow to report that Danny Aiello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, actor, and musician passed away last night after a brief illness. The family asks for privacy at this time. Service arrangements will be announced at a later date.”

He survived three children along with his wife he married on 1955, Sandy. He also laid a role in ‘Once Upon a Time in America’ and was opposite to Cher in ‘Moonstruck’.

After his passing away, Robert De Niro sent his condolences, “I am very saddened to hear of Danny’s passing. I have known him for almost 50 years. I am sad. See you in Heaven, Danny.”

Cher also tweeted, “Goodbye Dear Danny Aiello. Danny was a great actor, but a genius comedic actor. We laughed so much. Making Moonstruck … It was one of the happiest times in my life & He was a part of that happy time. Goodbye Johnny Cammareri.”
