Die Hard Star Bruce Willis Diagnosed With Brain Condition, And He Will Be Stepping Away From Acting

Here’s to hoping he gets the retirement he deserves!

The 67-year-old was previously spotted with an earpiece in a movie by his fans, but the famed actor was quiet about it. It wasn’t until Emma Heming Willis revealed that his husband was suffering from Aphasia which affects his cognitive abilities.

While this is new to the public, it seems that Hollywood has long known of his condition. A source told Page Six, “Everybody knew, the cast and crew.”

The ‘Die Hard’ star has been wearing “earpieces, hearing things, for them to feed him the lines”.

They noted that filming with him became was “increasingly difficult” as his condition deteriorated. A body double was even used for his screentime, reducing his shooting days to only three.

He was also spotted needing help with the props at the ‘Paradise City’ set filmed last year.

But his family has always been supporting the man all this time. Source had also stated that they’ve “moved in to take care of him”.

They’ve been spotted spending more time with Bruce since the pandemic, with the man reportedly staying in with his ex-wife Demi Moore for some time to spend quality time with the kids.

Clips of him wearing an earpiece in ‘American Siege’ surged; although it did not bring that much attention, rumors were there that he couldn’t memorize his lines.

Emma explained to his fans, “To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.”

“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

She added, “This is a really challenging time for our family, and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.”

“As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that.”

Previously, another source told New Zealand Herald in 2021, “His wife Emma has helped Demi Moore and the children Bruce shares with his ex-wife to make truces because they know he’s fading.”

“Between Demi and Emma, the family has always ensured Bruce has the support and care he might need at any given time,” they added. They said that the “real concern of dementia” hasn’t impacted the actor’s “ability to work” and that the earpieces allowed him “not to skip a beat”.

Razzies, a parody award show that makes fun of worst-rated cinematic movies, did one for ‘Out of Death’ that had a 0 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

But they’ve decided to launch another jab that does not sit right with many fans, earning a ratio instead. The Razzie Awards tweeted, “The Razzies are truly sorry for #BruceWillis diagnosed condition. Perhaps this explains why he wanted to go out with a bang in 2021.”

“Our best wishes to Bruce and family.”
