When is the best time for DIY projects if not during a lockdown? A lot of people are turning to DIY and amazingly a dad has built a back garden fortress for his two kids, at an amount valued at £170, and spent just three days for the whole process.

Scaffolder Marc Ely, 33 built a back garden fortress for his two kids, spending an amount valued at £170 and equally three days for the whole process

The remarkable play area, featuring a tower, slide, rock climbing wall, and swing, had Scaffolder Marc Ely, 33, saving nearly £2,000 having used materials from his work yard. Marc was assisted by his children – Blake, 3, and Bella, 8 who are presently catching all the fun in the new play home.

‘It’s lockdown and so I have a lot of spare time. Bella, in particular, had always wanted a treehouse, so I searched online the saw the ones with swings and a slide selling for over £2,000. Then I told myself I could do this perfectly.’ The father of two from Rochford Essex said.

He added: ‘Luckily for me, I had my own scaffolding workshop and I had the equipment required. I only spent an estimated 8hours on the project in a day. The kids got involved too and helped out with the shoveling and painting. The one thing I got to purchase was the wood chippings, slide, rock-climbing stones, paint, and swings. I built up an incredible castle with a bridge and a rock-climbing wall for a very small amount of money.’

However, marc is persuading other parents across the globe to build something in their garden if they are hand filled with the right materials. ‘It’s best if every parent can give DIY a trial if they are familiar with power tools. I shared the fortress in order to motivate others.’ Marc stated.

Accordingly, the CEO of Ely Scaffolding will be returning back to work very soon while looking forward to building fortresses for customers.
