Customer Drives Into A Car Repair Shop And Says He Doesn’t Want A ‘Chick’ Touching His Car, Makes A Fool Of Himself
It might seem strange, but it shouldn’t.
You’ve possibly heard the phrase that car repair ‘is a man’s work.’ It might be tough work, but women are also now capable of the skills it takes to get things done. However, gender stereotypes aren’t good, but it’s been challenging to ignore a woman working in a man’s universe. From sexist comments to male customers’ distrust, the reality of a woman working in an automotive shop can’t be imagined.
Recently, a licensed female mechanic, @Unlimitedpatience on Reddit shared how she occasionally has issues with male customers who get suspicious of her skills and abilities. Well, one of her customers was in particular unsatisfied with a woman fixing his car. Being the only female worker at the auto repair shop, the Redditor claimed that misogyny in the workplace was not something new to her.
A Licensed Female Mechanic Recently Shared How A Male Customer Refused To Let Her His Car.
The customer was in for about 10-minute before @Unlimitedpatience was given the job to handle. And just when the client saw her with the keys to his car, he got highly alarmed. “Who is that chick? Is she going to be working on my car? I don’t want her working on my car.” The customer insisted. In response, the advisor told him he might have to wait for male assistance, to which he claimed he would be happy to wait.
After waiting for about an hour, the customer again snapped, and at this point, he stated that he doesn’t care who des the recall but insisted it has to be a guy. The service advisor then listed the men in the dealership and shared why they can’t perform the recall. Expectedly, the customer was left fuming and demanded to talk to the service manager.
When the manager came out, he leads the customer right back to @Unlimitedpatience, letting him know that she was the best technician on-site and the best to work on the job. The client was pretty shocked; he eventually took his car and left two hours after he’d first arrived. Nonetheless, women are forced to combat sexist stereotypes, and a recent study has shown that 3 in 4 women do their pricing and repairs to make sure they receive fair prices.
