You’ve seen it, you’ve heard it. The social media is filled with awful news of a pregnant elephant killed in Kerala, India.
The dead body of the elephant was found standing up in Kerala’s Silent Valley Forest on May 27th. A spokesperson from Kerala Forest Department explained that this elephant may have eaten one of the pineapple traps set by farmers to keep boars away and from ruining farmers’ crops.
The incident came to light when forest officer Mohan Krishnan investigated the body. She may have wandered off from Silent Valley National Park (SVNP) in Palakkad for food. That was how she reached the border of Malappuram and accidentally ate one of the pineapples.
The explosion caused heavy damage to its jaws and its tongue was seen mangled. She got into the river to soothe herself and ended up dying in that position. She was later cremated in the forest.
