Artist Who Makes Sad Comics About Animals Return With One About A Swan
How can people be so horrible?
Humans are capable of many things – we’re the only species ever known to advance so far in civilization, technology, science, knowledge, art, you name it. But we are also the only species capable of cruel deeds, conducting self-gratifying actions that hurt others.
Jenny Jinya advocates against animal cruelty and has been bringing awareness to it with her comics. Her stories revolve around the kind Grim Reaper who greets animals on death’s door and console them. With every comic, she includes important information regarding animal cruelty, how we can help prevent it and save the animals.

She’s returned with a story about swans and get ready because it’s based on a real-life event.
Jenny explains that this comic was based on a story she only recently comes across. She wrote, “Sometimes I have to draw comics to cope with things. I read about this a while ago, and it still breaks my heart.”
While Jenny usually leaves an important awareness message, as this is a specific event, Jenny wishes only to leave one important reminder to people. Or, to be more precise, a warning.
“The only message I have here is don’t be cruel,” Jenny wrote.
“They really smashed her eggs with bricks… how can people do that?” she added.
The incident happened last year in June in the UK.
Manchester Evening News reported that the nest with six eggs was destroyed, with only three eggs left intact. The incident in Bolton caused the mother swan to die from a ‘broken heart’ after a group of teenage boys did that to her unhatched eggs.
Weeks later, wildlife activists noticed that the other two eggs were lost, and only one remained. The male swan left, possibly out of stress, and the female swan later died in the nest. The activist explained, “She probably died of a broken heart as she had a partner for life, and he was driven away by stress.”
Swans partner for life, and as such, they tend to stress out very much when they lose their partner. It’s painful to see what this beautiful family of swans had to go through because of momentary cruel acts by a group of youths. We hope Jenny Jinya’s warning will increase awareness and prevent such horrible things from happening again.
