American Girl Shares ‘Culture Shock’ Experience Attending An Aussie School
“Where are the metal detectors?”
Who would’ve thought that the difference of not allowing gun ownership could make so much difference? Lara Fourie, a student who recently moved to Australia, had to share how different it was attending a school in Melbourne compared to America. The culture shock was real.
The video has since gone viral with more than 600k views, 111k likes, and a promising part two.

Lara moved to Melbourne in 2017 and she was originally from Texas, USA.
Lara begins with the swearing. Australians can be pretty intense and who gives detention just because of a couple of expletive words?

And they use the C word.

She just had to share a true story on this topic.

She’s also learning a new word: recess.

Two breaks and allowed outside?!

But the most profound was probably the fact that they don’t have metal detectors.

Because people aren’t allowed to have guns.

The ensuing relief of knowing that Australia has a strict gun policy while school remains a safe zone.
People of Oz love seeing her reactions towards so many new things at her new school!
